Kaduna – The Election Petitions Tribunal in Kaduna says it has not received any petition from the National Assembly elections.

The Tribunal’s Secretary, Mr Okechukwu Amadi, said on Tuesday in Kaduna that there was no indication that petitions would be filed.

“There is no sign that we will be having petitions from the National Assembly polls,” Amadi said.

He said that two election tribunals were inaugurated by the Chief Justice of the Federation to handle petitions arising from the conduct of both the

National Assembly and Governorship elections in the state.

Amadi, however, said he was not aware of the composition of the two tribunals, adding that their names were yet to be released.

He said that petitioners from the two elections could proceed to the Court of Appeal for redress.

He said the tribunals were empowered by law to hold sittings for not more than 180 days from the date of commencement.

INEC conducted a rescheduled National Assembly polls throughout the country on Saturday of last week.

Independent election observers, including the Justice bDevelopment and Peace Carita’s (JDPC) adjudged the elections to be free and fair. (NAN)
