Katsina -The Katsina State Government has announced the suspension of the civil service examination meant for the promotion its civil servants. 

Gov. Ibrahim Shema announced the suspension in Katsina on Tuesday at an interactive session with 26 labour unions of the state.

He said the suspension was necessitated by the fact that the examination was not meeting the purpose for the conduct.

He said a government committee, comprising representatives of the state NLC, would be set up to look into cases of delayed promotions in the civil service.

He also said that the state government would look into the cases of some 70 workers who were dismissed in 2003 with a view to converting them to retirement.

The governor assured workers in the state of the possibility of implementing the N18,000 minimum wage after a careful study of the finances of the state.

Shema said that the state government would ensure salary increase for doctors and other health workers in the state.
