ABEOKUTA – THE Ogun Police Command yesterday said it arrested 20 persons during the National Assembly elections in Ogun for various offences.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Olayinka Balogun, in an interview , said the offences ranged from political violence, under-age voting, attempts to disrupt activities at collation centres, thuggery and unbecoming conducts. He said, “investigations are on and the culprits will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded’’.
Balogun counselled politicians to always obey the rules of the game and shun any act that might be against national interest during and after the elections.
Election is no licence for anyone or group to flout standing laws of the land. For peace to reign in our community, we must conduct ourselves in orderly manner during and after election.
For us as a command, we are ready to deal with anybody or group who cause trouble or join others to foment trouble in the state during and after the remaining election.
