UGHELLI – Delta State House of Assembly candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, for Ughgelli South Local Government Constituency, Mr Monday Emuvakpor, yesterday, expressed confidence that democracy has come to stay in the country.

He said the era of  imposition of candidates on the electorate was over and commended the people of the area for turning out en masse during the National Assembly elections, last weekend.

He promised to eradicate youth restiveness in the constituency through strategic youth empowerment programmes, if elected.

Emuvakpor, who spoke during a meeting with Ward chairmen and executives of the party in the local government area, said a minimum of 50 youths would be empowered on a yearly basis through various employment schemes to be introduced by him, if elected.

He said women would not be left out in the scheme of things and promised to empower at least 100 women drawn from the various communities in the area, yearly.

He said: “We have done it before when I was the Local Government Transition Committee Chairman. We empowered so many women and provided employment for the youths even within that short period of time. So we can do much better if we attain our current aspiration.”
