OSOGBO – The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has vowed to ensure that the gunmen that killed five persons in Ile-Ife at the dawn of Saturday’s National Assembly elections are brought to book.

The deceased were gunned down at the house of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, House of Representatives’ candidate in Ife Federal Constituency, Chief Rotimi Makinde on the election day.

Investigations revealed that Makinde was the target of assassination, but when the gunmen were unable to locate him, they ended up killing one of his security personnel and four others who were worshiping in a nearby church.

Aregbesola who spoke when he visited the scene of the crime and the houses of the victims, described the incident as painful for “some heartless people to think of killing human beings.”

“As much as we are happy about the outcome of the elections, it was painful that some heartless people thought of killing human beings like themselves. Such act is inhuman and it is important for everybody to condemn it act, because we cannot allow these hoodlums to still be in our state.

“How can we say that somebody was in a church to worship God, but met his death? I don’t even know what we can call it, that a human being can kill any other human being like him? I don’t believe that those that perpetrated this act are human beings, because whoever that even thinks of such thing, is not supposed to be living among human beings”, he noted.
