ABEOKUTA – TEARS flowed freely, Monday as the remains of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, party agent who was shot dead on Saturday by suspected thugs were laid to rest in his family house at Oke-Ero in Itoko area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The ACN agent; Mr. Tajudeen Bello, was shot at St. Mary Anglican Primary School, Ward 4 collation centre for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency by the hoodlums who were trying to snatch ballot boxes at the collation centre.

Eyewitness account said the collation had been concluded and the results were to be announced when the hoodlums stormed the venue and started firing sporadically when one of the bullets caught Bello in the head.

Bello, 61, who was said to be a fashion designer, was said to have died immediately while the incident was reported at the Adatan Police Station.

Traffic came to a standstill as the mourners in a procession from Ake where a special prayer was held, moved to his family house in Itoko and rained curses on the perpetrators of the evil act.

Addressing party supporter, State Chairman of ACN; Alhaji Tajudeen Ola Bello decried the unfortunate incidence, adding that such violence should be condemned by everybody so that the nation’s democracy would not be affected.

He pleaded with the party supporters not to let their spirit dampened by the killing, assuring  that the police was already investigating the incident, which he hoped, would yield positive result.
