Kuje (FCT) –  Voters at the Kuje Area Council of FCT have commended INEC and security agencies for conducting a “credible and fair election” in the territory.

A cross section of the voters made the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Kuje, FCT.

They said that INEC had proved to Nigerians that it was capable of satisfying the yearnings of the people for a free, fair and credible election.

Mr Moses Idowu, a voter, said that he was impressed by the voting procedures, which he described as transparent.

Adamu Dogo, a PDP agent, said he was happy with all the election procedure as there was no problem between the parties and their agents as well as security men and the electorate.

“We started the election and finished it successfully and all party agents
are happy with it,’’ Dogo said.

He commended security agencies for maintaining peace at the various units.

Kelechi Philips, an election observer, said the election was a departure from what the country used to experience in the past, saying: “INEC should keep it up.’’

Mr Nasiru Makaswa, ACN agent and Mr Sulleiman Aku, CPC agent, also commended the voting procedure.

They called on INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega to ensure that such orderliness was maintained in subsequent elections.

That ballots were counted in all polling units where the party agents as well as voters took record.

Meanwhile, traders at the area council made brisk business as many of them said the polls were blessing to them.

Mrs Favour Joseph, a recharge card seller, said she made more sales during the election.

“Before I used to realise about N3,000 on daily basis but today I have sold N8,000 worth of cards,’’ she said.

Mr Danladi Sule, a commercial motorcyclist who freely operated the business in the area, said the poll had helped him to make more money.

Sule said there was more patronage as many voters had to depend on his service to get to their polling units.

Mrs Oluchi Chinoye, a food seller also told NAN that she enjoyed more patronage by the public.

“By now I have made up to N20,000,” she said.(NAN)
