Abuja – Inspector-General of Police Hafiz Ringim has ordered a 24-hour security surveillance of INEC offices nationwide to forestall further attacks and possible threat to peace.

In a statement issued in reaction to a bomb explosion in Suleja, Niger, Friday, Ringim also directed the state commissioner of police to cordon off the INEC office in Suleja where the explosion occurred.

The statement said that eight persons, including, six females and two males were killed, while 26 other persons sustained injuries.

Ringim urged the public to remain calm as the police was on top of the situation.

He also called on the people to give useful information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for the bombing.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has directed that the victims of the explosion who sustained serious injuries be moved to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada and the Garki Hospitals, both in the FCT.
