Election: NLC warns against bloodshed

By Luka Binniyat

KADUNA-The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Wednesday advised Nigerians against blood-shed in the name of fighting for politicians,  ahead of the  of the rescheduled National Assembly election.

NLC’s President, Mr. Abdulwaheed Omar at the Kaduna State NLC  conference,  said:  “Our country is going through an electoral process to elect new leaders for the next four years. As you know, the first round, which are the National Assembly elections began on a shaky note suffering a countrywide postponement.

“While we look forward to having one of the most credible elections in our nation’s history.  We cannot but frown at the spate of bloodletting, mayhem, acrimony and blackmail that has trailed the elections.

The do-or-die attitude of our political actors in the electoral process is tragic, and must be strongly condemned. We urge you not to allow workers to be used as cannon fodders in the ensuing destructive struggle of the ruling class for power at all cost.”
