AWKA – Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, candidate for Awka 1 constituency for the state House of Assembly election, Mr. Kenechukwu Chukwuemeka, and three others, have been arrested in Awka for allegedly plotting to assassinate the member representing Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife.

The suspects were arrested by security men attached to the lawmaker.

The ACN candidate has, however, denied plotting to kill Mrs. Ekwunife, but admitted that he booked a room for the lady at Ekwunife’s hotel, adding that the girl came to the hotel with two of her friends.

Others arrested with Chukwuemeka were Miss Ngozi Okafor from Ogbunike in Anambra State, Mr Okechukwu Mba from Abia State and Mr. David Haruna from Kogi State.

Vanguard gathered that security operatives attached to Ekwunife had a tip off that some hired assassins were on their way to kill the lawmaker who is seeking reelection on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

It was gathered that when they spotted Miss Okafor walking around the hotel and making continuous telephone calls, their attention was attracted, adding that shortly after, a Toyota Highlander with  number plate, Abuja HD469ABC, arrived with three male occupants and the girl joined them in the vehicle which prompted security operatives to arrest them.
