Umuahia -FOR fear that divided loyalty may cost the ruling PDP victory in Abia State, parallel camps of the party in the state have entered into a cooperative agreement to ensure that the party wins the coming elections in the state and also deliver President Goodluck Jonathan.
The two camps, led by Governor Theodore Orji and Chief Ikechi Emenike, who is in court challenging the candidacy of Orji in the gubernatorial election, said it was better for them to work together and win the election for the party, despite pending court matter.
To this end, the two camps made a joint pledge personally signed by Governor Orji and Emenike to the effect that they will work for the party and unity of the state.
However, Emenike made it clear that he had not dropped his court case challenging the candidacy of Governor Orji.
The occasion was Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the home of Emenike, where the governor paid him a condolence visit over the death of his father who was buried on March 26, 2011.
The cooperation, Vanguard learnt, was brokered by Bishop Sunday Onuoha, himself a PDP chieftain, who felt that the victory of the party was paramount..
The 6-point cooperation agreement was made at the behest of Bishop Onuoha and signed by the two principal actors.
