Political violence claims 4 in Kogi

LOKOJA – FOUR persons were  killed while many others sustained serious injuries following a violent clash between rival political thugs in Ejule , Ofu Local Government Areas of Kogi State, yesterday

Though the State Police Command said it was yet to get official details of the clash, the Chairman of the Council in the area, Chief Enejo Peters,told Vanguard that the fracas was triggered off by people he described as “desperate politicians” whose “intent is  to disrupt the peace of the area by arming thugs to foment trouble at any slightest provocation.”

“These politicians have seen the realities on ground that they are no longer popular and acceptable by the electorate. They are now arming our young men to cause confusion ahead of the coming polls,” he said.

The council boss called on the state commissioner of police to “deploy a special police squad to Ejule as these hoodlums had literally overrun the entire area”
