Enugu – Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, has appealed to Nigerians not to be tired of making necessary sacrifice to ensure  free, fair and credible elections in the country.

Ekweremadu,  who spoke through his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Luke Mgboh, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, said the current  political development would help INEC to correct all anomalies for a smooth conduct of the elections.

“If rescheduling the elections is what it will take for us to get it right, Nigerians should make the sacrifice,’’ he said.

Ekweremadu appealed to the electorate to come out en masse on Saturday to cast their votes as they did before, saying that they should not allow the postponement to discourage them.
Ekweremadu is vying for Enugu West zone senatorial seat for the third time under the PDP.

…As Metuh counsels PDP supporters

Also in Enugu National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the South East zone, Chief Olisa Metuh, yesterday, asked supporters of the party in the zone not to be discouraged by the shift in the general elections.

He said that the chances of PDP in the elections would not be affected by the postponement as the electorate in the zone had been fully mobilized and would support its candidates.

To support  the electorate fully and with the level of campaigns the party mounted in all nooks and crannies of the zone. Metuh  was certain that PDP would do well in the polls.

Metuh, who regretted the shift after what he called much preparation by the party, said it was the best in the circumstance to give the country a credible and fair election.
