Court gives INEC ultimatum over suit seeking use of DDC machines

 ABUJA -A Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday, gave the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, till Monday, to respond to a suit seeking to compel it to rely solely on information contained in all the Direct Data Capturing, DDC, machines that were used during the concluded voters’ registration exercise in the country in accrediting those that will vote in the impending general elections.

Trial Justice Donatus Okorowo gave the order yesterday sequel to a motion on notice  filed before him by the Freedom Party of Nigeria, FPN.

The court ordered the electoral body to appear before it to show cause why all the declarations sought by the party should not be granted. The party had gone before the High Court, asking for an order of injunction barring INEC from relying only on the printed voters’ card to accredit those that will be eligible to exercise their franchise in less than 42-hours time.
