PORT HARCOURT- AHEAD of Saturday general polls, Brigade Commander, Port Harcourt army barracks, Brigadier General Tukur Buratai has appealed to any one with intention to cause violence at election grounds in Rivers State to stay away from the polls because his men would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone caught fomenting trouble that day.
Making the appeal at the end of a security training exercise code named “tactical exercise without troops” at the barracks in Port Harcourt, he said it was part of the responsibility of security operatives in the state to ensure a hitch-free general election in the state.
He further enjoined security operatives that would be on ground during the election to resist temptation to open fire indiscriminately.
He said: “None of the armed services here should open fire anyhow during the election. Don’t do that as deterrence for a future occurrence. Don’t open fire because you feel if you leave a man he will go to disrupt the election”
