Delta State Police Command has warned political parties against plans to import thugs to disrupt elections in the state.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Ibrahim Mamman, made this disclosure in Asaba, yesterday, amid complaints by two leading members of Democratic People’s Party, DPP, in the state, that there were threat to their lives and possible disruption of peace in their constituencies in the April 2, National Assembly elections.
Aspirant for the Ika Federal Contingency, Mr Festus Chukwuyem and Delta North senatorial aspirant, Prince Ned Nwoko, told Vanguard in Asaba, yesterday, that they had received information about plots by politicians, who were afraid of defeat in the elections to resort to creating mayhem, before, during and after the elections.
