Benue youths protest against political violence

BY PETER DURU

Makurdi – No fewer than 100,000 Benue youths marched through the streets of Makurdi, yesterday, to condemn the spate of political violence in the state and also reaffirmed their support for the re-election of Governor Gabriel Suswam at the April polls.

The procession which went round major streets in the state capital had youths drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state, most of whom had placards condemning the recent violent attack on Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, supporters across the state by alleged  supporters of the opposition parties.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards also condemned the recent publication in a national newspaper which indicated that Governor Gabriel Suswam was trailing his opponents in popularity rating among the electorate.
