Lagos-Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended on a positive note, yesterday, as the market capitalisation grew by N138 billion.
The All-Share Index also appreciated by 432.14 points to close at 24,987.14 from the opening index of 24,555.00
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that due to the positive transactions, the market indices appreciated further by 1.76 per cent.
The Banking sub-sector led the other sub-sectors in performance, as it traded 149.57 million shares worth N1.25 billion in 2,635 deals.
The volume recorded in the sub-sector was driven by transactions in the shares of Diamond Bank, which sold 45.68 million shares worth N343.36 million in 87 deals.
The Insurance sub-sector followed with 27.01 million shares valued at N22.88 million exchanged in 264 deals.
The Other Financial Institutions sub-sector came third with 9.60 million shares worth N4.81 million traded in eight deals.
The volume of trade in the sub-sector was driven by the shares of Crusader Nigeria, which traded 9.45 million shares worth N4.72 million in four deals.
Forty-three equities appreciated in share price value while the prices of 15 other equities depreciated.
Oando recorded the highest price gain of N2.83 to close at N59.43 per share.
Nigerian Breweries rose by N1.60 to close at N76.80 per share while UACN appreciated by N1.56 to close at N32.91 per share.
Flourmill topped the price losers’ chart, dipping by N4.14 to close at N82.86 per share.
PZ lost N1.59 to close at N30.33 per share while Costain depreciated by 33k to close at N6.27 per share.
