OWERRI – MANAGEMENT of Evan Enwerem University, Owerri, EEUO, has debunked the rumour making the rounds that the institution had imposed high school fees on its students.

Acting Vice Chancellor, VC, of the University, Professor Osita Nwebo, who disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, insisted that there was no increase in school fees in the university.

He said: “The committee set up by the state government to critically look into the problems of the University actually recommended an increase in school fees but the governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, in his magnanimity, refused to approve the recommended of new fee s.”

The Acting VC insisted that the governor had even released money to the university for the purpose of ensuring the accreditation of some of its departments.

He said the governor was aware of the situation under which the university was operating, adding that “we now have well paved internal roads that were previously impassable.”

Professor Nwebo encouraged parents and guardians to come to the university or go to the banks to personally verify the true position concerning the payment of school fees.
