BENIN – DRAMA happened, Saturday, when Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State went on an on-the-spot inspection of the Anegbette-Ekperi Road, in the Etsako Central Local Government Area, which is under construction; when supporters of a Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) member of the House of Representatives and also candidate of the party in next month’s elections, Mr. Abbass Braimah, abandoned the lawmaker’s campaign train to join Oshiomhole.
The drama started when the lawmaker, who was on a campaign trip to some communities in the area, ran into the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governor, who was inspecting the on-going construction of the Anegbette-Ekperi Road. He decided to stop by and greet the governor but, after they exchanged compliments, he went back to his car to continue his campaign.
But, to the chagrin of the lawmaker, all the supporters, abandoned him and ran to the governor, singing “Oshiomhole na you we know o, na you we know”.
It became an embarrassing moment for the lawmaker after all efforts made by some of his aides to get the supporters back on track failed as they decided to stay with the governor.
Sunday Vanguard observed that the youths were happy with the on-going construction of the Angbette-Ekperi Road. The bad state of the road in the past had isolated the communities in the area with the neighouring communities and they found it difficult to market their farm produce due to lack of access roads.
