Rally: APGA guber candidate flays Ebonyi govt for school’s closure

ABAKALIKI- Ambassador Frank  Ogbuewu, the governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance ,  APGA , in Ebonyi State, has condemned  in strong terms  the decision of Ebonyi State governor, Chief Martin Elechi, and ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to shut down Community Primary School, Nkwoagu, last Monday  for a political rally.

According to him, this prevented  the pupils from having their studies for the day.

He said: “This act is strange,  condemnable, unacceptable, especially in this era that education is the topmost priority of every administration. It is wrong for school children to be sent home from school by a state governor because of a selfish political consideration.

“The  governor and his party ought to have scheduled the rally on  a day that will not conflict with studies of the school children or better still choose a venue different from the shool premises.

“Primary education is the bedrock of  any educational system and should not be toyed with. What is more disturbing is the fact that Ebonyi State is the most backward and educationally disadvantaged state in Nigeria and could not afford the luxury of having a school forcefully closed down on the altar of political campaign.”
