Indomie donates Science Laboratory Equipment to Community School

As part of Indomie’s effort in capacity building across the country, the organisation recently donated science laboratory equipments worth hundreds of thousands of Naira to Iwerekun Junior and Senior Secondary School, Lakuwe community in Ibeju-Lekki local government area of Lagos State.

The corporate social responsibility thrust which started two years ago was borne out of the company’s resolution to support the effort of the government in the development of the educational sector by equipping schools with science laboratory equipment as the government needs the support of well meaning corporate organization to provide the schools with the required partnership.

While presenting the equipments to the school on behalf of the MD/CEO, Dufil Prima Foods Plc Mr. Deepak Singhal, the Public Relations & Events Manager, Dufil Prima Foods , Mr. Temitope Ashiwaju, said that the company is passionate about the educational sector of the country most especially the development of science education which is pivotal to national growth and development as science and technology is the future of the world.

Ashiwaju explained that the choice of Iwerekun Junior and Secondary School out of the several schools in the Ibeju –Lekki local government area was an outcome of due diligence and wide consultations with relevant stakeholders in the community. He assured that more schools in the community have been penciled down to benefit from the science laboratory equipment donation.

He urged the teachers in the school to take full advantage of the science laboratory equipment provided by the company to the fullest by taking extra effort to teach the students in the practical aspects of the three key science subjects which are Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Mr. Temitope Ashiwaju declared that the company will institute a scholarship scheme for the students of the school if a remarkable improvements is achieved in the result of the students in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations conducted by WAEC and NECO.

Reacting on behalf of the Lakewu community, the Baale of Lakewu, Alhaji Sidiku Ishola Ojomu expressed the appreciation of the community to Dufil Prima Foods for the donation while urging parents to ensure they groom their children well to take full advantage of the science laboratory equipment for their advancement and to ensure Lakuwe and the entire Ibeju produce more successful people in the field of sciences like Medicine and Engineering .

The Baale called on the government and well meaning individuals and corporate organization to come to the aid of the community in the provision of more blocks of classrooms in the school as the population of students is far too large for the available classroom.

Ashafa revealed that he facilitated the donation to help his own community to benefit from Indomie’s laudable CSR initiative. Ashafa also declared that he has also identified another critical area of need for the school during his discussion with management and student which is the lack of First Aid Box. Thus, he announced the donation of a mobile First Aid clinic and presented a cash support of N100,000.00 for the purchased of drugs and consumables for the use of the school.

Also Speaking at the event, the Onitedo of Itedo, lauded the corporate social initiative of Dufil by supporting in the area of education noting that Government can not shoulder the responsibility of the education sector alone and require the support of responsible organization like Dufil.
