The Managing Director of Internet Solutions West Africa, Mr Steve Herridge last week announced the expansion of the Data Centre and Hosting Facility in the Victoria Island, Lagos State.

The expansion according to him, involves an additional investment of $1.5m, an approximate (N225 million) to cover areas like Power Generation and upgraded Facilities to cater for the growth of the Data Centre.

Herridge, said that his company was embarking on the investment armed with the knowledge that growth of the IT data processing environment is multidimensional, even as factors like business type, customer behaviour, storage, regulatory demands, risk management, and technology innovation all affect how businesses process and store data.

For him, “due to developments such as increasing demand, virtualization, and requirements for low latency data connectivity, the data centre has become a dynamic environment which must constantly be re_calibrated to maintain its effectiveness.”

He added that since the arrival of two new submarine cables in Nigeria there has been an explosion of interest from international companies wanting to do business in Nigeria and has facilitated the growth in demand for server and application hosting.

These interests, according to him, spurred the company on into taking the decision to expand the available space in its VI facility on the back of an order received from one of its major banking customers. He noted that this expansion then allows his company to cater for the high demand that it experiences in the hosting and co_location business in Nigeria, both from businesses currently operating within Nigeria and business looking to enter the market.
