Yobo calls for gradual changes in Eagles

Super Eagles captain, Yobo Joseph has declared his support for coach Samson Siasia and his desire to inject young players into the squad but would like to see such changes carried out gradually.

“I like the idea of seeing some players coming in. It is always good and I like giving others their opportunities as well as actually integrating them slowly. But it is not that easy changing everything. It is a gradual process before we get there,” Yobo told MTN football.

Speaking further,  the Turkey-based player said he was impressed by the quality the Eagles gaffer had shown so far and called on  Nigerians to be patient with the new coach.

“People have to be patient for results to come. I spoke with the coach when he came to see me in Turkey to share his views and philosophy.

“Time will tell about everything because right now there is no time to actually implement all his ideas and everything he wants to do.”

Assessing the performance of the new boys in the team, Yobo said “the boys actually did well. Players like Ahmed Musa, Joel Obi and Emmanuel Emenike showed they have got talent and with time they will gradually blend into the team.”

On the home based players in the new look Eagles the skipper’s verdict was not too far from his view after Eagles 1-0 loss to Guinea when he said home-based were not yet ripe for the Eagles.

Said he of the home boys, “the home_based players too have the talent to be in the team, but they need more time to actually integrate into the team. Let’s be patient and we will get there.”
He said the task of leading the team was enormous.

“As a captain you call the final shots when it comes to the players, you just have to stand up to things. You just have to be strong. You have to have the character and the personality. There are certain things that are going to be changed and certain decisions that are going to be made and as captain you have to be responsible for these.
