After the failure of the Green Bowl Tournament in the USA, the Nigeria Football Federation has started trading blames with members of the immediate past board, saying the botched tournament was an inherited project.

First vice president of the Aminu Maigari-led executive committee, Chief Mike Umeh disclosed that they were yet to have peace since inception because they were trying to implement some of the projects inherited from the previous board that included the Green Bowl Tournament.

“The Green Bowl Tournament was from the previous board. We inherited it because we believe in continuity. It could have been a good development if the agent that handled the project had done his work professionally. The agent didn’t do his job professionally”, Chief Umeh said.

But Chief Obinna Ogba, who headed the Marketing Committee in the sacked Sani Lulu Abdullahi-led NFF Board and vice chairman of the interim management committee that was headed by Aminu Maigari, dismissed as untrue the claim that the Green Bowl tournament was hatched by the previous administration.
Ogba was emphatic when he said in a telephone chat yesterday that he was not aware of any such arrangement.

“Throughout my tenure in the previous administrations, we did not in any way arrange any Green Bowl tournament for the Super Eagles”..

Ademola Olajire, the NFF Chief Media Officer however explained that the agent that handled the botched tournament had been working towards getting friendly games for the Super Eagles since Lulu’s era but could not convince all how the Green Bowl tournament was shoddily packaged. “The guy really messed up”, Ademola Olajire said.
