Today, 3rd of March 2011, the art world shall gather at the University town of Abraka at the opening of an art exhibition titled…”Ronanance”…artistic rhythms of the Niger Delta….by the University of Ibadan trained art historian Dr Ese Odokuma. The venue is the turf country club Oria Abraka, Delta State of Nigeria, from the 3rd – 12th of March 2011. Dr Ese Odokuma obtained a degree in art(metal design) from the University of Benin before proceeding to the University of Ibadan for her M.A/ Ph.D in art history. She lectures in Delta State University, Abraka and builds her artistic tendencies around her art-historical foundations. The departments of fine and applied arts, Abraka, has in most recent times showcased the works of professor Osa D. Egonwa, Dr Abel Diakparomre, Dr Grace Ojie, Dr. Okpu, Dr. Irivwieri, Dr. Emeni, Dr. Nelson Edewor, Mr. Aganbi, Mr. Bazunu, Miss Patience A. Edo just to mention a few. Dr Ese Odokuma, has also featured in numerous conferences and exhibitions across the country. This exhibition however, promises to be one in a million as it reveals over forty words of the artist ranging from wood, metal, pen and ink to cartoon clips. Apart, from her artistics skills, Ese is also a talented jazz performer. She has in the past, participated in a number of jazz concerts in Ibaban and Lagos respectively.
