IN order to stop the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State from occupying the Edo State Government House come 2012, the Peoples Progressive Party, PPP, and other opposition political parties are to form a coalition ahead the 2012 governorship election in the state, says Mr Solomon Edebiri, national leader of the PPP.

Edebiri, who described both the ACN-led government and the PDP in the state as “birds of the same feather,” explained to newsmen shortly after meeting with leaders of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, ANPP and a faction of Labour Party in the state, that “our people have seen that while the PDP ruined this state for over ten years, the ACN government has become a military regime where only one person dictates to all.”

According to him, “we are working on aligning with all political parties to ensure that PDP and ACN do not come back to power in Edo State. In Edo State, that is the idea. We want to be sure that the people have a true progressive party. We want to eliminate dictatorship in Edo State. We want to be sure that the people have a government that is of the people and will be for the people and created by the people. We want to eliminate a situation where the people can be held captive.

“It cannot be done by one man alone because the resources cannot be enough. We are, therefore, putting together a team of political groups to form a  strong coalition to ensure that these people do not come back in 2012,” he added.
