BENIN – AUTHORITIES of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma and the institution’s Students’ Union Government (SUG) are to exploit the out of court settlement option in a case instituted by the students against the University.
This development is sequel to the application filed by the counsel to the students, Mr. Ogiso Elebalulu when the case came up for hearing Monday, at the High Court, Ekpoma.
Counsel to the students had told the presiding judge, Justice Tinuke Akomolafe-Wilson, the out of court settlement option became necessary following intervention of the Onogie of Ekpoma, HRH Anthony Abumere ll.
He prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable both parties exploit the settlement option and report back to it on the adjourned date.
However counsel to the authorities of the University. H. E. Uwaifo, wants the plaintiffs to withdraw their injunction motion before heading for the settlement table.
This was not hover granted by the court.
In her ruling, Justice Akomolafe- Wilson granted the application of the counsel to the plaintiffs, saying the court welcomes amicable resolution of cases through out of court settlement and adjourned the case to March 23, 2011
The students had approached the High Court, to restrain the management of the school from suspending them from office as student’s leaders.
