NIMC staff petition Jonathan over 8 yrs salary arrears

By Bose Adelaja

OVER 2,000 officers of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, have petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan over their eight years’ unpaid arrears, urging him to impress it on the management to pay them and save them from further suffering and starvation.

NIMC was formerly a department under the Ministry of Interior and known then as Department of National Civic Registration DNCR.

In a Save Our Soul, SOS, letter letter to Mr. President, the aggrieved staff, who are pool officers and currently posted to various Federal Ministries and Departments by the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, said the organisation was owing them numerous allowances, including monetisation dating back to 2003, promotion arrears, reinstatement arrears, rent arrears among others.

Three of the affected officers, Mr. Sunday Enilolobo, Mrs Adenreti Bolaji and Mr. Ayo Oriowo, told Vanguard that series of appeals had been made to the incumbent Director General of NIMC, Mr. Chris Onyemenem, over the years which yielded no positive result.

This, according to them, informed their SOS  letter to President Jonathan.
