President’s visit: Delta CP drafts 5000 officers to venue

Asaba – DELTA State Police Commissioner, Mamman Ibrahim, says that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure that the ugly incident of stampede that killed people during the Port Harcourt rally did not repeat itself in Delta State, during  the President’s visit to the state  today.

Addressing newsmen in Asaba, the CP after visiting the venue of the campaign rally in Asaba, said  over 5,000 police officers would be drafted to the venue of the PDP rally holding today.

He told reporters that he personally had to visit the venue “to know how ready the venue and map out and ensure that better security measures were put in place.”  Also at the venue, the state Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Frank Omare, who was on the ground to ensure that the needed expansion of the venue was in place. Finishing touches were being put when our reporter visited the venue while the state is already agog awaiting the President’s visit.
