IBADAN—THE cold war between the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, worsened weekend, as the son of the monarch, Prince Akeem Adeyemi and some lawmakers in his domain defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

Before things fell apart between the governor and the monarch, Prince Adeyemi and lawmakers in the domain of the paramount ruler won their elections on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

Among those who defected to the ACN included Hon. Kamil Akinlabi, member of the House of Representatives representing Oyo East, Oyo West, Afijio and Atiba and other thousands of people who left the PDP with the prince.

This came as Senator Abiola Ajimobi, condemned the destruction of his billboards in some parts of the state, saying his political rivals were jittery because of the rising profile of the party and his acceptability in the state.

He described the act as barbaric, undemocratic and uncivilised, lamented that some people had been destroying his campaign materials on old Ife road (opposite Gbagi Market and Oyesina Model School). The governorship candidate of the party in the state, spoke at the reconciliatory tour of local government in the state.

Flanked by his Deputy, Mr. Moses Alake Adeyemo, Oyo South Senatorial candidate, Chief Olufemi Lanlehin, Dr. Wale Okediran, candidate for Oyo North Senatorial Districts, he was happy that the reconciliation move was yielding desired results.

According to the statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Matthew Oyedokun, the defectors hinged their defection on lack of focus, wasteful spending of the present administration and inability to resolve the LAUTECH crisis that had adversely affected the economy of Ogbomoso, education of the students of LAUTECH and inflicted untold hardship on  their parents.

Ajimobi used the forum to dismiss the rumour that he collected money from the governor promising civil servants and teachers in the state good packages if elected.

He also pledged that towns and villages within the state would witness quick transformation in terms of infrastructure.
