The memorable victory of Arsenal FC over title favourites FC Barcelona of Spain last Wednesday night at the Emirates stadium in London is still the talking point among the guests that witnessed the match at the Heineken Planet House.
The Robin van Persie and Andrei Arshavin’s late strikes which gave the London Gunners a 2_1 first leg win and their first ever victory against the Catalan giants in six previous encounters in the competition, set many visitors in the house into wild jubilations which almost disrupted in_house conduct of guests at the Planet House.
“We appreciate the emotion of loyal consumers and the their affinity to the clubs and things like this is most expected but the reported wild jubilations was out of proportion because to the best of our knowledge the celebrations were still in conformity with our in_house ethics,” the Assistant Brand Manager Heineken Kehinde Ebuoma disclosed over the weekend.
The two top European clubs will battle again in the return leg at the magnificent Camp Nou ground of the Catalan giants in the next two weeks.
However this Tuesday and Wednesday, actions resume on the continent after weekend of domestic matches and all the visitors into the Planet House are in for more memorable nights with other top clubs in Europe taking their turns for the first leg action in the second round knock out stage of the UEFA Champions league.
Flamboyant Jose Mourinho begins the quest of Spanish giants Real Madrid to end five seasons spell of elimination in the second round stage as he leads the team away to Lyon FC at the Stade Gerland ground. The French side incidentally knocked the Spanish giants out last season.
And on same night, debutant of this stage of the competition, FC Copenhagen will host resurgent FC Chelsea in another tough match at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.
The following day, it will be a repeat of last year’s final match when Inter Milan play host to Bayern Munich of Germany at the San Siro Stadium while Taye Taiwo’s Olympique Marseille will host Manchester United at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille same night.
The Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Jacco Van der Linden disclosed that like it was last season, five lucky consumers will be selected through usual transparent draw to win an all expense paid trip to see the final match of the Champions League at the Wembley Stadium, London on the 28th of May.
“By this, Heineken will engage more consumers into the brand world of luxury and style and millions of Nigerians will get the opportunity to experience the Champions Planet on major Televisions and Radio stations nation wide,” he commented.
