FG to build 2 military commands in Yenagoa

Abuja – The Minister of Defence, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, says the Federal Government will soon build two new military commands in Yenagoa.

Kayode disclosed this in Yenagoa on Thursday when he paid a courtesy call on Gov. Timipre Sylva at Government House.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mobolaji Yusuf for Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Defence.

According to the minister, the two military facilities, the Nigerian Army Training Depot and Nigeria Air Force Air lift Command, will be sited in Okodia/Zarama in Yenagoa Local Government Area.

The statement quoted the minister as saying that the command would handle the lifting of personnel and any equipment that could be transported by air.

The minister described the location of the command close to the proposed International Airport in Yenagoa as strategic.

He explained that, when fully operational, the command would have up to 3,000 staff, adding that it would also bring the civil populace and the military together.

Responding, the governor thanked the Federal Government for locating the two military establishments in Yenagoa.

He said the development had brought joy to the people of the state.
