INEC voters register displayed only in two Imo LGs

By CHIDI NKWOPARA
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, commenced the display of names of registered voters in Imo State in only two out of the 27 local government areas of the state.

According to Vanguard investigations, only names of registered voters in Oru East and Okigwe dispatched to Owerri from INEC Headquarters, Abuja, were on display as at 4pm last Monday.

Confirming the situation to journalists in Owerri, INEC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chinedu Onyeji, explained that the commission was experiencing delay in printing the materials.

He, however, gave an assurance that the remaining lists would be made available at the respective centres as soon as they were ready.

Meanwhile, INEC has finally displayed the name of Chief Osita Izunaso as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Imo West senatorial district.

The fresh name was displayed in the early hours of last Monday, after a new list was received from INEC Headquarters, Abuja.

Vanguard recalls that the commission had earlier displayed list of senatorial candidates for the respective registered political parties that fielded candidates for the elective position without that of the PDP.
