TRAGEDY, yesterday, struck as a 55 year old man allegedly committed suicide in Ikprukpru, Ughelli metropolis, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, with a liquid chemical suspected to be acid after inflicting serious burnt injuries on his wife with the deadly substance.

The deceased identified as Samuel, attacked the wife on the streets, while she was distributing bread to her customers. The wife, simply identified as Florence, Vanguard gathered was sprayed with liquid substance on her face and other parts of her body.

According to a reliable source, the husband after assaulting the wife, swallowed the left over of the substance and died moments after.

The source who pleaded anonymity,said the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital for prompt medical attention by sympertizers, decrying that the woman’s eyes were badly affected due to the severity of the burnt injuries resulting from the attack.

The source added that the man’s action was not unconnected with the frosty dimension their relationship had turned in the past few months.
