UGHELLI — THE House of Representatives candidate of Accord Party for  Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency, Mr Julius Akpovoka has promised to award scholarship to 33 university students in each ward that made up the constituency, if elected.

Speaking at his home town, Afiesere, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, weekend, Akpovoka said the development of education was one of his  major goal.

He lamented that the constituency had not been given adequate representation despite its contribution to the economic growth of the country and blamed the underdevelopment of the area on past political representations.

Reiterating that he was conversant with the problems bedeviling the area, he said he will bring his experience as a one-time council vice chairman and a businessman, who had created employment for over 500 youths in the area to bear in finding lasting solution to the socio-economic needs of the people.

According to him, “I will give soccour to the less privileged by ensuring that regular assistance is given to them. I will encourage the growth of small scale industries by giving market men/women and farmers’ soft loans to boast their businesses and farm produce.”

“Agriculture being the predominant occupation of my people, I will ensure that an Agricultural research institute and farm estates are established and food processing industry is equally established in this federal constituency.”
