ABEOKUTA —  APPARENTLY worried by the endless political crisis rocking the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party,  PDP, the state’s Deputy Governor, Alhaja Salimot Badru, weekend, urged the kinsmen of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to intervene in the imbroglio that has divided the party.

Specifically, Badru appealed to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the former Judge of the World Court, Chief Bola Ajibola, and the Chairman Midland Galvanizing Company, Chief Tunde Abudu, to wade into the crisis.

Badru, who represented Governor Olugbenga Daniel at the official inauguration of the First Phase of the 400,000 metric tons Steel Cold Rolling Mill complex in Abeokuta, urged the guests at the venue, most of who are Obasanjo’s kinsmen to intervene.

She said, “I want to use this opportunity to urge our fathers, particularly the Alake Of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and other fathers here, to please pray for this state at this trying period. The state belongs to all of us and we all know that in the absence of peace there can’t be any meaningful development.”

Though, Obasanjo’s seat was empty throughout the event, the ceremony was attended by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Olusegun Aganga, Egba prominent sons and daughters including, the Secretary General for Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Lateef Adegbite, and Chief  Titilayo Ajanaku, the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade, amongst others.

Ajibola however, in his prayer at the event called for divine intervention as the nation passes through the electioneering period.

He said, “the nation is tough and rough at this time we want you almighty Allah to help us in this nation and at this period.”

Chairman of Midland Rolling Mills Limited, Chief Tunde Abudu, disclosed that the first phase of the Steel Cold Rolling plant has capacity of producing 150, 000 tons of Cold Rolled Coils and Sheet while the next phase which will start in 2012 would produce 250, 000 tons.
