Lagos – The Egbin Thermal Station is now generating and distributing power close to its installed capacity, its Public Affairs Manager, Mrs Esther Udo, has said.

Udo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday that the entire six units of the station were now working.

According to her, there will be significant improvement in power supply when the minor repairs on all the units are done.

NAN recalled that Mr Jonathan Ogbonna, Chief Executive Officer of the station, had told members of the House of Representatives Committee on Power, who visited the station last year, that the six power units were faulty.

He said that that each of the units was expected to be overhauled every five to six years.

Ogbonna said that one of the six units had been due for overhauling since 1990 while another one broke down in December 2009 after working for 23 years without any overhaul.
