ABIA State Governor, Theordore Orji, has dismissed a recent letter written by former Governor Orji Kalu to Abia people, concerning alleged threats on his(Orji) life and the state’s financial status as at May 2007 as a ploy to divert public attention.
He also called on Abia indigenes to take the former Governor as a past sour-phase, which no reasonable Abian will want to remember.
Governor Orji in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Mr.Kingsley Emereuwa, insisted that the former Governor, bequeathed many liabilities to the present administration.
He said, “it is laughable for a Governor, who left office with so much liabilities bequeathed to his predecessor to now attempt to play on the people’s intelligence. One wonders why it took him so long to find his voice on the issue of the state of indebtedness, which he has not responded since it was levelled against him only to come out few weeks to the election to play his traditional old tune of washing away his hands like Pontius Pilate.”
He noted that Abia people would have ignored the content of the letter, but stressed that records must be put in order.
“Governor Orji would have ignored Kalu completely, more so now that the PPA Presidential cum Senatorial flag-bearer is sorrowfully unable to come to terms with his lonely habitation in political wilderness. But records must be set straight,”the statement added.
Continuing, the statement said, “On the issue of the petition before the security agencies for which he as natural, Governor Orji is not surprised. And Nigerians especially Abia people are not new to such antics, but to threaten the life of a sitting governor, deserves to be investigated, and that is only what the petition is all about. Any other way to get undeserved sympathy, remains out of context.”
