THE Delta State Government, yesterday, issued a 14-day ultimatum to Wokson International Limited, the firm handling section ‘A’ of the Ughelli-Asaba road dualization.

Issuing the ultimatum, Mr Sunny Onuesoke, Special Project Director, Section ‘A’ of the road dualization project, said the state government will not hesitate to revoke the contract should the firm fail to complete the Arhade to Ozoro part of the project with asphalt within the 14 days.

Onuesoke, who inspected the road project, frowned at the contractor’s slow pace of work and enjoined the various communities hosting the project to exercise patience and create the enabling environment for the contractor to work. He added that government was already looking into the issue of their compensation.

Explaining that unlike the terrain in Sections ‘B’ and ‘C’ of the project, it was only 37% of the total length of the section ‘A’ that was totally free of property that attract compensation.

Speaking further, Onuesoke, however, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work so far done by the firm, but said the terrain in Section ‘A’ was not enough reason  for the slow pace of the work.

He commended the state government for making funds available to contractors handling the road project.
