INDEED, Lagosians will come alive today as the Teslim Balogun Stadium, provides the platform for Nigerians to once again catch a glimpse of the Super Eagles to assess players assembled by Coach Samson Siasia in the international friendly against their Sierra Leonean counterparts.

The game will be the first competitive test for head coach Samson Siasia since he took charge of the Nigerian team in December. Many will be watching to see how well the former Dream Team handler will fair since being elevated to the arguably the ‘hottest’ seat in Nigerian sports.
Siasia said he is looking forward to his first game and today’s match will serve as an opportunity to see his players firsthand.
“This will afford me and my backroom staff the chance to look at some of our new and young players. We will use the game as part of preparation for the Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia. Playing in Lagos will help us prepare since our Nations Cup qualifier will also hold here.”
Nigeria will have the likes of, Vincent Enyeama, Obinna Nsofor and Victor Anichebe for this game against Sierra Leone’s foreign stars that include legendary Mohammed Kallon, John Trye, Sherif Suma, Ibrahim Koroma, Ibrahim Kargbo, Benjamin Sesay, Ibrahim Bangura, Mohammed Bangura and Sulaiman Fullah Sesay.
The international friendly which kicks off at 7:00 pm is the first game that will take place in Lagos in more than a decade.
Skipper Joseph Yobo leads the team, which also include Inter Milan youngsters Joel Obi and Obiorah Nwankwo.
Domestic league hat trick hero Ekigho Ehiosun also gets his chance to replicate his goalscoring at international level.
The Warri Wolves forward is one of three domestic league players in the squad.
The others are Heartland’s Chibuzor Okonkwo and Julius Ubido, with Kano Pillars’ Wasiu Sowemimo also included.
Striker Shola Ameobi much awaited Nigeria debut has to be deferred as he is nursing an injury.
