Eagles fail to train in Lagos

By Sylva Eleanya
Nigeria’s Eagles did not train at the Teslim Balogun Stadium yesterday. Their first training for the encounter against Sierra Leone in Lagos on Wednesday was scheduled for the venue of the match at 5 pm.

But just before the time, spokesman of the Nigeria Football Federation addressed the media and informed that the team will now train this morning. Low numerical strength of the foreign-based players probably forced the change in schedule.
“More players are expected this night (yesterday) and by morning time tomorrow (today) we would have had a full house,” Demola said.

Surprisingly, not many fans were at the stadium to watch the expected training. Sports journalists around were even dared by the security men to stay away from the stadium. The journalists insisted that it was their job to cover the training. Demola’s announcement that Eagles would no longer train stopped a possible clash between the security men and journalists.
