PDP member urges INEC to register Nigerians abroad

THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been urged to include Nigerians in diaspora in the on-going voters’ registration in order to enhance credible elections in April.

A United Kingdom based Real Estate Consultant; Mr Kayode Popoola Sogbetun, stressed the need weekend while speaking with newsmen during a ceremony to ursher him into the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ogun State Chapter.

Sogbetun, who has over 22 years experience in estate business before joining politics, explained that millions of Nigerians are scattered all over the world and as citizens of the country,  would want to participate actively in the April general elections.

He said that if proper arrangements were put in place by INEC, “it is still possible for capture them before April dates. He therefore, called on INEC to look critically into it and make necessary preparations without any delay. INEC has every wherewithal to make this happen if it is serious.” .

“I urged Nigerians in their millions to come out and register in the ongoing INEC exercise because the voters’ card is a power which they can use to elect the people of their choice into government,” he said.

Sogbetan said his aim of joining the party was that he has study it and have found out that it is the most veritable tool to serve the generality of people adding that hisa choice of joining PDP is because of stability and popular out of all other parties in the country. I want to become a full member of the PDP in Ogun State I have been looking at their features for the past few years and I have seen that they a stable party and the most popular party in Nigeria. The party has been executing people oriented programmes”

Sogbetun, who praised Governor Gbenga Daniel for his giant stride in the state in the last eight years, explained that his reason for coming home from the foreign land was to contribute his own quota to development of his community in Ode Remo, and for the entire people Ogun State.

“My aim of joining politics is to fix the housing problems by making sure that people in the state have good housing and also to improve the education sector in Ogun State. Aside this, as a person who has travelled wide and far, I have a lot of ideas which I want to use to put into practice for the upliftment of the people of the state,” Sogbetun said.
