RCO faults PDP guber primaries in Gombe

RUFAI Campaign Organisation, RCO, has condemned the outcome of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial primaries in Gombe State, saying that it does not reflect the wishes of party members in the state.

It also disclosed it has  has set up a committee to examine all the issues surrounding the Gombe PDP governorship primaries held on January 9, noting that it would afford RCO the opportunity of charting a new line of action.

A statement by RCO’s Publicity and Strategy Committee Head, Mr. Bonaventure Melah, said RCO is awaiting the outcome of the committee’s report.

He said: “Clearly, the outcome of the PDP governorship primaries in Gombe State fell short of the expectations of the people. Since then, the Rufai Campaign Organisation, RCO, has been receiving numerous representations and calls for us to take a definite position.”

on this matter. “Accordingly, the Rufai Campaign Organisation has set up a high_ powered Committee to examine all the issues surrounding the Gombe PDP Governorship Primaries held on January 9, 2011. We now await the outcome of that Committee’s Report to enable us look at the options available to us and chart a new course for the way forward”

He further called on supporters of Professor Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali to remain calm and await further directives from RCO.
“Meanwhile, we call on all our supporters, well_ wishers and coordinators from the State to the Local Government and ward levels to remain calm and await further directives from the Rufai Campaign Organisation,” Melah noted.

Continuing, he said, “We were particularly touched given the thousands of enthusiastic PDP members and other people of Gombe State who came out to receive him on the day he formally flagged off his campaign in a Grand Rally that took place in Gombe town on October 11, 2010.”
