MEMBER representing Sapele constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Monday Igbuya has raised alarm over faulty registration machines supplied to the constituency. He has also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, chairman, Prof Attaihuru Jega, to extend the date for the registration.
Igbuya who spoke to newsmen, Monday, shortly after he was registered in Sapele Ward 1, expressed worry that many people may be disenfranchised due to the faulty state of some of the machines.
He said the turnout of people in the constituency for the registration was encouraging, adding that the poor handling of the exercise by INEC could lead to the non-registration of many people of voting age.
He berated INEC for not making adequate provision for the transportation of registration materials and the officials to the various wards and units.
