Senator Joy Emodi, the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, senatorial candidate for Anambra North senatorial district, has called on men and women of goodwill to contribute to the revival of the businesses of victims of the recent Ochanja market fire disaster.

Senator Emodi made the call Monday after her  visit to the victims.

Refusing to disclose the quantum of her contribution to the victims, Senator Emodi, particularly expressed regret that a number of widows and young men just starting life were affected by the fire.

She particularly expressed sympathy with  Onitsha Phone Traders Association which she claimed bore the brunt of the fire.

Calling for goodwill from public spirited individuals Emodi, however, called on them to be cautious in expressing their donations, saying donations should be sent in bank drafts to the association in order to avoid further losses to victims.

“What happened at Ochanja last week is particularly lamentable. I am particularly touched by the fate of those young men and women who now have to start life afresh.”

“We must use this opportunity to show our dear brothers and sisters affected by this incident the kind of milk of human kindness that is in us. It is one opportunity that those of us who have received God’s blessings must now seek to show God’s goodness unto our fellow human beings.”

“So, I appeal to all whatever you can, please nothing is too small for the widows, nothing is too small for those young men and women who have lost all they labored for through this fire disaster,” Senator Emodi said.

“On a personal note in order not to increase the loss, I advise that donations should be made by bank draft to the Onitsha Phone Traders Association, since they are a registered body they would be able to make and share what ever donation they receive among themselves,” Emodi said.
