True to its name, the Lagos State Sports Endowment Fund has thrown its weight behind Corporate Games West Africa holding between March 24 and 27 in Lagos, the economic hub of West Africa.

Organisers say their offices have been inundated with enquiries by corporate bodies who either want to participate in the games as competitors or as corporate partners.

“So far, we have close to thirty corporate bodies wanting to take part in the games,” an official told journalists in Lagos at the weekend, revealing that there has been a marked increase in the number of companies enrolling for the games.

“So far, the response has been tremendous and we are ready to accommodate as many as would beat the deadline for registration,” the official added.

The games will feature eleven sports including tennis, tenpin bowling, volleyball, basketball and badminton.
Other sports billed to feature include beach soccer, 5-a-side soccer, table tennis, running, golf and squash.

Speaking on the gains participating companies stood to make, the official said, “corporate games West Africa will create employee confidence, loyalty and team spirit, increase name and brand recognition and above all provides the best avenue for connectivity and unity among corporate bodies in the sub-region.

“The benefits cannot be quantified, particularly in the area of confidence building among operators of similar industries in the sub-region.”
