THE National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has ordered a re-run of gubernatorial primary election in Akwa Ibom state.
According to a statement signed yesterday by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Prince Uche Secondus, the PDP has constituted a five-member panel to conduct the primary election today, Saturday, January 15, 2011.
The statement read in part, ‘’following confirmed reports that some aspirants who received late clearance from the Screening Appeal Panel for the gubernatorial primary election in Akwa Ibom State were unable to participate in the exercise conducted on 9 January 2011 due to late arrival, the National Working Committee (NWC) has ordered a repeat of the gubernatorial primary election in the State.
Accordingly, a five-man panel has been constituted to conduct the primary election today.
The NWC implores all aspirants and delegates to the primary election to cooperate to ensure the success of the exercise.”
Secondus said that the panel which has Chief P.C. Agu as Chairman, is made up of A. Baraje, Barr. Chijioke Isiolu; and Azubuike Eze as members while Hajia Fatima Suleiman will serve as the Secretary.
