NO fewer than three persons were, Thursday, burnt to death in an accident, which occurred at Ugbiyaya, near Ehor, the administrative headquarters of Uhunmwode Local government Area along the Benin-Auchi Highway, when a head-on collision occured between a Mercedes Benz car and a trailer.
Vanguard gathered that the accident occurred when the Mercedes Benx car with number plate, AA 971 TRD, which was coming from the Benin axis had a punctured tyre, lost control and crashed into the trailer with number plate, XN 349 APP, heading towards Benin City.
The Mercedes Benz, it was further gathered was said to have burst into flames, trapping and burning the three occupants beyond recognition.
In his reaction, the driver of the truck who gave his name as Bala, said he lost control as soon as the Mercedes Benz car entered under his truck, resulting to the fatality of the accident.
Immediately the mishap occurred, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, arrived the scene to evacuate the charred remains of the victims.
Mr. Thomas Ordia, of the Iruekpen Unit of the Command, described the accident as pathetic.
He enjoined motorists to be road safety conscious, saying “the road still remains dangerous even after the festive period”, adding that users must obey traffic rules all the time, saying that the Corps Marshals have intensified patrol on the highway.
