Enyimba of Aba players may soon down their boots and launch a protest about the non payment of their entitlements by the club management.

It was gathered that with 10 games into the season, players and officials of the clubside are yet to get their pay as funds from the Abia state government seem to have dried up.

Former club spokesman, Tonnex Chukwu revealed that things are so bad in Enyimba that the players are living from hand to mouth.

“The only hunger that Enyimba was noted for was hunger to win trophies. But right now hunger of the stomach has been added to the equation and that is not too good

“When players and officials of a club do not receive their financial entitlements, there is no way they will perform at an optimal level. That is the situation at Enyimba right now.

Enyimba, the first Nigeria side to win the title begin their campaign against Congolese champions, Saint Michel de Ouenzé later this month and Tonnex sees the People’s Elephants trampling on the opposition comfortably.

“Make no mistakes about it, Enyimba are still a top side. They parade the best legs in the country and if the players are kept happy, Enyimba will win the CAF Champions’ League title again,” he concluded.
